Your Chance to Make an Impact

S

tudent-athletes are attracted to Carolina because of the opportunity to be challenged academically and athletically in an environment where excellence thrives. And for many, scholarships are the foundation of their experience at UNC.
During the 2023-24 academic year, more than 850 student-athletes competed for Carolina,  including 557 receiving scholarship assistance funded by donor support through The Rams Club. More than 290 women on 15 women’s sports team are among that elite group.

From 1971-72, when seven Tar Heel women’s sports took flight (basketball, field hockey, volleyball, fencing, swimming & diving, tennis, and gymnastics), to today, these women carry on Carolina’s tradition of excellence. With 45 of the 61 Tar Heel team national titles won by a women’s team, Carolina female student-athletes continue to be exceptional leaders in college athletics.

“I’m lucky to have had wonderful coaches and the time that we were lacrosse players, we were athletes, but also that we were more than that. We were young women with an opportunity to change the world. I have continued to apply all the lessons I learned as a student-athlete when I take care of my patients at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry.”

In 2024, The Carolina Women’s Leadership Council (CWLC) launched a $1,000,000 campaign to endow a scholarship to be assigned to a participant in a women’s varsity program and to be awarded annually in consultation with The Rams Club scholarship administration team.

The Carolina Women’s Leadership Council Athletic Scholarship will provide opportunities in perpetuity for outstanding student-athletes to earn an education at a world-class university, to develop athletic and life skills in the best facilities, and to learn from extraordinary coaches.

Your investment will ensure that Carolina continues to recruit student-athletes who carry a commitment to excellence—and who will become the leaders and champions of tomorrow.
